On 10 September 2026, the Good Governance Awareness Initiative (GGAI) paid an advocacy visit to Sheikh Hadiyatullahi Abdul Ganiyi, Imam of the Federation of Women Muslim Mosque, FCT Chapter, in Utako, Abuja.
The GGAI delegation was led by the Executive Director, Dr Maureen Onwukwue, alongside the Director of Programmes, Damian Ivom. Dr Onwukwue commended the Imam for his efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s religious and ethnic groups.
She explained that peace is central to meaningful development, accountable governance and the well-being of citizens. She also highlighted GGAI’s commitment to promoting informed, inclusive and responsible citizen participation in Nigeria’s democratic processes.
Over the years, GGAI has implemented projects in election observation, voter education, peaceful-election campaigns, youth leadership training, educational support for vulnerable children and the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives.
During the meeting, GGAI presented Sheikh Hadiyatullahi Abdul Ganiyi with a letter appointing him as one of the organisation’s patrons.
In his response, the Imam thanked the GGAI team for the visit. He stressed that every Nigerian has a responsibility to promote peace, regardless of religion or ethnicity, adding that humanity should always come first.
He also assured the organisation of his support towards achieving its objectives.
