The goal of Good Governance Awareness Initiative (GGAI) is to promote transparent, accountable, inclusive, and participatory governance in Nigeria, particularly at the local government level, by empowering citizens to understand their rights, engage in decision-making, monitor public resources, and hold public institutions accountable for their actions and responsibilities.

GGAI seeks to strengthen democratic values, civic participation, social accountability, and community-led development through public awareness, capacity building, advocacy, and constructive engagement between citizens and government. We are committed to ensuring that women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups have meaningful opportunities to influence public policies, contribute to development priorities, and access responsive, equitable, and effective public services.

Specifically, we are:

1. To Promote Accountable and Transparent Governance:
Advocate for openness, anti-corruption, and accountability in public offices at all levels (local, state, federal). Track government projects and budgets and make information accessible to citizens.
2. To Facilitate Citizens’ Participation in Decision-Making:
Educate and empower citizens (especially youths) to understand their rights and actively engage in governance through town halls, advocacy campaigns, and civic education.
3. To Promote a Free, Fair, and Transparent Electoral Process:
Voter education, election monitoring, and campaigns against voter apathy and vote-buying. Help citizens understand the power of their PVC.
