GGAI felicitates and congratulates all women on this august occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day, 2022.
We are excited that a day is set aside annually to celebrate the strength and beauty of women, We are even more excited that, as the years go by, the world has increasingly accorded recognition to women in various spheres of life and has continued to recognize why women matter in society and why they should be afforded equal opportunities for self-expression, development and accomplishment.
This is so because we are reminded that, while commendable strides have been taken towards better empowering, educating and giving women a voice, more still needs to be done especially in the area of holding political offices.
The work towards enshrining the principles of gender equality and equity is in all honesty, far from over with what happened during the just concluded constitution amendment by the Nigerian law makers.
The importance of women cannot be overemphasized and a testament to this truth is the fact that the world has continued to benefit immensely from the astute wisdom and perspective that women bring to the table.
Therefore, as a non governmental organization we celebrate the uniqueness and beauty of our women, the world over, we must however contribute our quota towards deconstructing unbeneficial, established male paradigms that are forged from the unfair precepts of patriarchy and further encourage gender parity and increased participation of women in all aspects of societal development.
